Excellent opportunities for scholars of Economic Development!
CBEID looks to underwrite focused research to support innovation in existing businesses; encourage new start-ups; create job opportunities that are less vulnerable to competition from lower cost locations; help foster a business culture in the area that will attract and retain energetic, productive and creative entrepreneurs who will make permanent commitments to the community. Influenced by thought leaders such as Richard Florida and Charles Landry,
CBEID founders believe that even in a globalized economy, local economic development strategies are crucial to a community’s viability and sustainability.
The Center is currently negotiating with prominent
scholars to review the literature on creating a receptive local environment for business innovation and entrepreneurship; identify communities and initiatives with similar purposes and prospects; and assist in presenting relevant concepts to the community (government, business, education and NGO leaders).
