Kane County Chronicle, March 20, 2009

GENEVA – The Center for Business Education, Innovation and Development will present a panel discussion on financial markets at 3:30 p.m. March 26 at the Geneva History Center, 113 S. Third St., Geneva.

The group is a nonprofit initiative of local citizens to help safeguard the economic well-being of the Tri-Cities area in the face of global competition.

The panel's topic will be Financial Markets: What does an entrepreneur need to know about financial markets? The panel consists of market professionals from the area, all of whom have formed their own small businesses.

Sheila Penrose will moderate the panel. Penrose is a director of three corporate boards. She co-founded and chairs Corporate Leadership Center, a partnership between major corporations and Kellogg School of Management.

Other panelists are Charles Brown, president of CB3 Financial Group in Geneva, an asset manager, investment adviser and general securities principal; Don Cummings, principal and co-founder of Blue Haven Capital, LLC in Geneva, with a background in both the taxable and tax-free fixed income areas; Essan Soobratty, who has worked in the financial markets since 1990 in a variety of roles at banks in London and Tokyo including derivatives trader, risk manager and structurer of hedging programs.
